The competition gave us many ideas on how to pursue on making a more fuel efficient vehicle. Tomorrow we're going to do simple rolling tests to see how tirepressure changes vehicle's rolling distance. Team is preparing to 'Pisaralla pisimmälle' eco-marathon arranged in Nokia next autumn.

3.5.2009 - 01:49

Team is desperately piecing together Remmi 7 for upcoming race. We start our trip to Shell Eco-marathon 2009 in few hours. Germany here we come!

April - Seven days a week

26.4.2009

We were test driving our current vehicle Remmi 7 in Nokia. We pieced together the vehicle pretty fast(that morning 2 a.m.) and results were scarce. One especial flaw was sunlight blinding our camshaft's sensors 'cause we weren't assembled a protecting cover over the engine. Shell helds Eco-marathon the first thing in May so we are in a hurry to fix all problems.

23.4.2009

We have laminated total 3 carbon rim of same method. The engine will be pieced together for next sunday test run. We designed a servo controlled jaw clutch to vehicle's rear axle.

6.4.2009

To Do- list has been made about Remmi 7 participating the uppcoming comptetition in May. We've torn down the engine to replace some of it's parts i.e. a piston and an intake manifold. New carbon rims will be laminated soon and the vehicle's shell will be reinforced. Also a LiFePO4- battery stack will be made soon. We are also seeking some ceramic bearings to replace those steel ones.

Mars - Tune in

4.3.2009

We've succeeced in vacuum infusion laminating whilst making our carbon rims.

February - Smoke and loud noise

25.2.2009

We've ordered some carbon fibre(130g/m2) to be used in a carbon rim. Soon we are going to laminate a rim wich will be made quite differently than the first one.

We've ordered some LiFePo4 batteries/cells. Once they've arrived we are going to make a test stack meant to replace our current Pb battery. Reduction in vehicle's weight is expected to be about 1kg.

Project announced: A new engine is going to be made. Main differece to the current H-engine will be shorter stroke. Project leader is Teemu Lehtinen who has lots of enthusiasm and experience.

Ennätystehdas comes out MTV3 19:30 14.2. Read more here.

The show is about breaking the finnish record of "Pisaralla Pisimmälle" eco-marathon competition in Nokia last autumn.

10.2.2009

The MicroSquirt® EFI controller will be installed to Remmi 7. Firstly we put it to the old G-engine for testing. We are seeking some sensors i.e. an intake temperature sensor and a knock sensor for the unit.

Fluke provided us an oscilloscope. Read more here.

4.2.2009

We got the G-engine running and started to tune in the dyno.

We were invited to Kauriala high school to present our current vehicle Remmi 7. Read more here.

January - Assembling

pic

14.1.2009

The dyno's main parts assembled. First test runs indicated some unlinearity in brake force. A small electrical component was missing in parallel to a rotor's coil. Thanks to TELOK's electric parts stash we were able to get the dyno running.

Few of our team members have had their bicycle test runned. Our team is currently seeking a test vehicle like a moped for calibrating the dynamometer.

The concept of the dynamometer. Props to J. Kankkunen.

13.11.2008

We are programming our NI Real-Time card for the dyno. We'll get some parts for the dyno next week.

October

17.10.2008

The dynamometer mechanics is entirely planned thanks to J. Kankkunen. The frame of the dyno is quite ready.

National Instrument provides us a real-time data acquisition device. We use the device to collect all data and control the dynamometer. Previously we had planned to use the ATmega microcontroller in our dyno but we came to realize the ATmega is not capable to handle data fast enough. Utilizing the device National Instrument provided us we are expected to have good repeatability and accuracy in our measurements.

Rekry/Fuksisauna was successful. Many new faces were intrested about the Team. Activate yourself and spend some time for the Team.

18.9.2008

Rokka spends some time in Remmi-Team programming the dyno. We also tested our carbonrim in action: 8bar and about 80kg. No worries.

pic pic

12.9.2008

Electric components and software for the dynamometer is being designed by member of Roboteam/Castor. ATmega128 microcontroller is being used to control load and measure all data. End result will be the effieciency of the engine. The dyno has a computer user interface.

With a modern laptop we are utilizing Dosbox-emulator to program the ECU of Remmi 7.

4.9.2008

Nowadays action is focused on finetuning Team's vehicle Remmi 7.

A new dynamometer is going to be built soon. Plans are ready and lacking material will be collected. National Instruments provides us some equipment for measurements. The dyno has an alternator and a strainsheet sensor for measuring moment needed supporting the alternator for not rotating it's main axle.

A carriage for vehicle Remmi 7 is needed and features are designed.

Remmi 7's weight needs to be reduced. We think of making Remmi 7's chassis of carbontubes and making carbonrims. Both tasks need some more know-how.

Team wants you. Come and see our work every wednesdays to our clubroom K001 from 1800 and get involved.
